Wow! Beautiful pictures! Sure makes it tempting to venture into a SW setup.
As for the camera, it's always fun to get a toy. Glad to see you put it to good use right away.;) What kind of Camera? Obviously, with some macro lenses from the shots you took.
As for your tank, I'm really impressed. How long have you had it set up? As one of those uninitiated to SW, I'd love it if you could ID your tank inhabitants for us.

I have two strip lights i'm using on the tank, with 2x 9 watt 10,000k bulbs and 2x 9watt actinic bulbs. A 25 watt stealth heater, a 3.5 refugium built by mykiss and i'll post pics of that too in a bit, and a regular light for the refugium, and a powerhead 110g/hour, but i think thast a bit too much flow, I think i've reduced it but I can't really tell, one of my fish can't swim comfortably in the current but the other one can. Everything else seems to like it.

Very nice! Must stay away from the darkside...

Evil temptress! Gorgeous. I can't believe that list of things you have in there! In freshwater you'd be lucky to have a few Shrimp & a pair of Het's in a 5G.
I'm glad to hear that you picked up a camera. I'll look forward to many more pic's  .

Very nice! Must stay away from the darkside...
I dunno Mr. HP, I'm beginning to think that's where all of the fun is. There is a stigma attached to the 'twilight' zone, going towards the light means you can't come back and people who look on the bright side are very irritating overall, so I may just cross over to the dark side because that's obviously where all the cool kids hang out.:D

I think it's true what they say about salt water, once you go SW you don't go back.

I don't think there's enough breeding possibilities to keep me interested - I couldn't play with color and finnage like I can with Livebearers. I wouldn't mind trying a small one before I go towards the light....lol....but otherwise the only thing I've ever really wanted in marine fish are seahorses, because I've loved horses since I was a little girl. I love other people's marine tanks though.

yeah, sea horses are cool. The only thing I've ever wanted in a marine tank is a blenny, but I have no blenny and a bunch of other stuff. But now I love the other stuff. One day I guess i'll have to upgrade and get a blenny. I named my computer and mp3 player Blenny, that's how much I like them.

That's excellent! I can see another side biz in his future. I think he has some spare time between 3:34 AM & 3:52 AM so he could do it then ;) .

Pardon my ignorance as I do not have any sw tanks, but what's the purpose of a refugium? Is it a sump that doubles as a second tank that you keep a few more inhabitants to help filter the water?

Nice tank. Love the colours.

Jan 4th 2007, 12:42 PM
The refugium is like sump, to add more water, but also in a refugium you put in things like plants to get rid of extra nutrients like a filter. I guess you can add more inhabitants if you want but it's just helps to keep the water cleaner. I like it because now i ahve two tanks to look at even though i got nothing but rock and algae in the other one.

I'm trying to remember what cartoon character she reminds me of... something about the shape of that face....
Regardless, very nice fishy. I still can't believe just how much of the marine experience you can have in a small tank. Whodathunkit?

More sw pics... my tank has transformed a bit due to bad parenting!!! I didn't do waterchanges for a month and stopped dosing and some corals died but some survived...Somehow I managed to kill off some zoos... and some of my coraline algae turned white... must do water change. Anyhow it's not all bad, I did some rescaping, and my tank looks a bit different and the corals are a bit disturbed but here are the new pics.

I"ve never had a big tank so I don't know how hard it is in comparison but it's not so hard. My tank was doing much better when I was doing weekly water changes and dosing, so I guess that's very important as in any other tank lol. I have a refugium so that helps. It's actually not as hard as I thought it would be.
I just use a current satelite 36 watt light strip and I might be switching to MH later on in the summer.
Thanks for the compliment on the gobies :)
I"ll post again i a couple of months as I am trying to take better care of it now... see if there is a difference :)
