Well then, congratulations, you have Amano Shrimp larva! The thing is they eat small;small organisms at this time. I would suggest having live plants in the tank, and make sure they can't be sucked up in the filter.

Are they on the glass or floating in the water column? Newly hatched Amano float in the water column.

Are you trying to breed Amano shrimp?

Yes im trying to breed them finaly found a pic on-line of the larvae, then sucked them all up into a syringe and put them in 10g of salt water counted them as i went got over 1500 i stopped counting after that :) apparently when they begin to look more like shrimp i need to transfer hem back into fresh water.

Let me know if any of this info is incorrect::D:

I am also trying to breed Amano's. Good luck and I would love to hear how it goes. Here are 2 sites I have referred to:

http://mikes-machine.mine.nu/breeding_yamato.htm

http://caridina.japonica.online.fr/English/index.html

If you know of other good sites, please post them. Thanks!

How are the Amano zoae doing? I'm thinking they are at ~ day 18.

I made it to day 19 with my first batch and only day 9 with my next 2 batches. I'm at a standstill waiting for my females to berry. I am down to 4 females and only 1 male. I'm thinking I'll have to get some more males as this one probably isn't doing his job.

Good Luck!

I bought 12 Amanos over a year ago and never saw them again, except for when I pulled out the Pagoda and saw a few stuffed in the cracks inside. Then a couple of weeks ago I was peering through the glass looking for my elusive ABNs and saw about a dozen small Amanos peering back at me. I also seem to have quite a few Cherry Shrimp now too, so I guess they've been busy as well.

Good Luck.

Yeah they tend to hang out around the Sword plant, as they can hide between the stalks. The problem with Shrimp is that if you see 12, you're more likely to have 1200. I know when I added the 50 Cherry Shrimp I hardly ever saw them, but now I see them hanging out around the Anubias (munching Algae) all the time. So I fear they have legions hiding inside the Pagoda ready to march. Be afraid, be very afraid. :-)

 They're building an army, planning and preparing for the invasion... not sure how long they can survive out of water, but if I were you, I'd be sleeping with one eye open.

 Amazing little creatures... and quite the escape artists too from what I gather.
