View Full Version : Valentine's Day plans?

I thought about this when I went for coffee this afternoon and receivedmy latte with a heart swirled on the top. Does anyone have anything special planned for Valentine's Day? or by my asking, have you suddenly realized it's on the horizon and you need to think of something quickly for that someone special? You could always present your loved one with a brand new tank... however, if they're not the fish-y sort, that might go over like a lead balloon. :twitcy:

I plan to play a poker tournament. :P One of our local poker rooms is having a big event on Valentines Day. Most use every holiday as an excuse to have a large tournament.

Best of luck in the tournament (win more money to buy more fish  )

I don't know what I'll do when my Valentine grows up and gets a girlfriend.... do you suppose they'll want to spend Valentine's Day with me then? For this year anyway, we'll do the traditional Charlie Brown's Valentines special and eat mucho chocolate:MyValentine: ... supposing this nagging tooth is better anyways. Perhaps I should have salad and then I wouldn't get teeth issues:rolleyes: .

I've only seen the hotel from the outside (years ago) but it's supposed to be very nice indeed. I wonder if they'll provide an special extras for Valentines Day (like chocolate dipped strawberries on the house).

Get the tooth fixed before Valentines, that is all there is to it. You can't pass up chocolate on Valentines Day.

As it turns out, it's Trigeminal Neuralgia which the medical community calls 'suicide disease' with very good reason. Luckily they make very good drugs and since it has nothing to do with my teeth, I get Valentines chocolate ::D: .

Sounds like a lovely evening has been planned for you!

I had to go look up Trigeminal Neuralgia as I had never heard of it. Glad they found out what it was and that you've got some good pain-meds especially as according to this info (http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/trigeminal-neuralgia/DS00446/DSECTION=causes) from the mayoclinic.com simple things like the following are among the ones which can trigger it.

Eating
Drinking
Brushing your teeth
Talking
Putting on makeup
Encountering a breeze
SmilingNow that could really put a damper on any enjoyment in life.

Not to intentionally make light of a serious condition, but I can't resist commenting on the fact that I didn't see anything about caring for fish having an impact. Except that if I've now made you smile, I may have unintentionally inflicted more pain. :frown: I sure hope not.

We are going to East Side Mario's I love it. Italian Wedding Soup that they serve is one of my favourites and so is Caesar Salad. I usually end up bringing the meal home for the next day, actually so does my daughter. I may see if they have just soup and salad meals. Great weather for the soup. Turning cold again here. We had spring like weather for a couple of days.

Its the only thing i ever eat at ESM, it tastes so good i dont want to take a chance and get something gross. My wife and I are going to the Big Al's in Oakville we havent been there yet and they apparently have 50 some odd types of plants

Big Als = Hot Date::D:

LOL It's ok Jay - the drugs have you covered.

I've never heard of East Side Mario's but I love Italian, if that counts.

BA's - some are good, some are not so good. Always always always give fish & plants a long quarantine, just in case.

As for hot dates, as long as you're both happy to be where you are, it has heat potential. People complicate romance more than necessary, I figure  . There's a jewelry commercial here that says "If you want to be kissed like you've never been kissed before..." (said by a woman who has a voice that grates on my nerves, no less). My mental reply is always "If a guy I dated wanted to be kissed like he's never been kissed before, he'd use that money to pay off my Visa so I don't have to worry about it."

Well todays the day:smile: .

Happy Valentines and hope everyone has an exceptional day!

I'm off to deliver coffee in bed to the betterhalf, since it's his birthday today. Then into the kitchen to make a birthday cake, definitely a chocolate one.

When it's your special day around here you get to choose what we're to have for dinner, so.............

We'll be having Bruschetta Baked Brie
Smoked Meat sandwiches
Home made French fries
and Birthday cake with ice-cream.
Now if that menu doesn't cause you to :twitcy: , I don't know what will.

Yes Pam, sharing chocolate is just a bit much to ask, I agree...lol.

I forgot my other Valentine tradition - the hot fish avatar I use. Try to resist guys, it's not really me - I could only hope to be that sexy. :err:

Well we went on our hot date to big al's there are about three close to us. We got some new fish that we're on sale, and I have sucessfully converted my wife to fishism as she brought home her very own 75g tank (for african cichilids). Unfortunately after the 45 min drive home i began to build the stand only to find that the screws and hinges were missing, after a couple phone calls I was able to go to the slightly closer big al's and get my missing parts. Her tank is now cyclng. She also picked out a Brown Ghost Knife(which im having trouble finiding info)

Ahh, so fishkeeping has now become a family affair. That's neat that your wife shares your interest in fish. Tell her congrats on the new tank!

As for the Brown Ghost Knife fish, here's some info for you: http://fish.mongabay.com/knifefish.htm

Now that you have her addicted, we'll have to see who is least addicted. Which will be the first one that says "We don't need anymore tanks" LOL

Don't tell her I told you but she is trying to get us to give her mom our 30 gal. 1 Point viper ! I agreed with her though because her Mom has been the best, and we want to keep them on the main floor but we had too much trouble deciding where her 75 went.
