On Sunday March 29th the Brant Aquarium Society will hold its Spring Auction, Flea Market and Show at the Paris Fairground, special events building. This event is our major fundraiser to support the operation of the society.

This years' event has three components.

First, there will be a Flea Market. It will run from 8:00am to the auction ends. The Flea Market tables will be setup in the front area of the Building. All transactions are between the vendor and the buyer. The Society does not receive any proceeds from any sale. Vendors are allowed to sell any item they choose. It is not limited to the fish related products. See the Flea Market page (http://brantaquariumsociety.ca/index.php?q=flea) for details.

Secondly, there will be a Tropical Fish Show. It will be open for entries from 8:00am until 10:00am. The show will be setup in the front area of the Building. There will be 28 classes available to enter you fish or fish related items in. See the Tropical Fish Show page (http://brantaquariumsociety.ca/index.php?q=show)for more details.

Finally the Main event, the Annual Auction. Registration starts at 8:00 until 10:00am. We will have a short intermission to announce the show results. The auction will take place at the back of the room. Bring your fish and fish related items. New and used items are welcome. You get 70% of the selling price. The will be NO tabs at this years auction. For more info see the Auction page (http://brantaquariumsociety.ca/index.php?q=sa).

Along with all that we will also have raffles and draws during the day. The event also has a kitchen for all your food and beverage needs.

I really liked the venue for the auction this year. A lot more room than last year. Tons of show fish were entered. I'll try and get some posted up later.

There really was. The best in show was a molly I believe. I tried for pics, but it being a black molly .... it just didn't do the fish any justice.

That's correct it was indeed a black molly and a lovely one at that. I think Zenin has a photo of it, I'll check.

Oh, I must say it was one of the biggest shows I've seen in a while too. I think I heard that there was 170 entries for this one.

I hope this bodes well for the show for CAOAC's 50th anniversary convention. Also, I believe there's going to be a reptile and amphibian class available at that one as well.

I was reading about that last night on CAOAC's site and didn't know about it till then. I have a few friends who are heavy into reptile breeding, I wonder if its being advertised on the reptile boards. I'll have to check on that.
