This is the Case of the Missing Molly
I'm beginning to panic. I have not seen my male Black Golddust molly in 2 days! :wideeyed: I have searched the tank as best I can but can find no sign of him (and he hasn't jumped out either). Granted the tank is well planted and there are lots of hiding places but he hasn't appeared... even at feeding time.
He looked perfectly healthy the last time I saw him. There are no predators in the tank. Everyone else in the tank is healthy. Water parameters are fine. I recently did a water change.
I don't know what to think... except I'd hate to lose such a beautiful fish.:( Just in case he'd hiding and not well, I added some Melafix to the tank tonight (I figure it can't hurt).

Maybe the Pleco was at him and it wasn't so noticable with his coloring?
Although not much comfort, its your female that you need to keep your population as you know, so it could be worse. He may still turn up, stranger things have happened.
I hope you get some babies soon - I didn't get anymore of those in so you have the only population of Clapsaddle Gold Dust Sailfins in Canada to my knowledge. I'm ordering from him again in the Spring, so we can try to get you another male then if the worst happens.
Hope you find him!

Still no sign of him so I fear the worst. I certainly hope the two mated before this happened. Shall keep an eye on her and hopefully, she'll produce a few fry for me.
They are such beautiful fish. If the worst has happened, I most definitely would like to try getting another male from him when you next place an order.
Still keeping my fingers crossed that he's just hiding... but doubt it.

She'll be carrying from other inseminations so you'll get fry for months

Then she's going to be one pampered molly... extra special treatment for her. :D

Awww.....I always hate it when one of the faves goes missing :(
I'm missing 2 fish, both feared to be in a better place now. 1 male Endler and one of my Hillstream Loaches, they both just vanished into thin air about a month apart. Water is fine, no aggressive tank mates and really no way out except through some small openings in the canopy, but neither fish was found on the floor so I guess the fish gremlins must've been visiting once again.
Hopefully your female will come through with some nice babies for ya!

Sorry to hear you had a couple of your fish go missing, too. It's amazing how that happens. I don't have access to all areas of my tank as it is in a corner and heavily planted. So a dead fish could go undetected.
Will post if & when my female has little ones.

You'd be surprised at how fast snails can get rid of the evidence, which never fails to gross me out. :Eeewww:

I guess what may be gross to you, is fine dining to the snails.
