:witch: CLICK ON THE BANNER! :broomstick:
Be ready for those adorable goblins carrying Unicef boxes Halloween night. I once forgot to have change around and the bit I could dig up ran out quickly. I only had bills, so one kid got a big bonus! I couldn't say no - she was soooooo little and sweet...
There is also an online campaign that I wish I'd known about earlier. Hopefully next year I'll remember and we can do the "Click or Treat" thing here as a community next year.

Either I'm blind or they're not doing the 'Click or Treat' thing this year. Regardless, it's still Unicef day on October 31st so have your change ready!

Be ready to fill those boxes in 2009! You can definitly give online this year, just click here (https://secure.unicef.ca/portal/SmartDefault.aspx?at=1282)! You can even donate through your local school online, just select it from their list (https://secure.e2rm.com/registrant/SponsorTeamSearch.aspx?EventID=39682&LangPref=en-CA). The top fundraising schools are ranked so people often want to donate through a certain school to help their fundraising efforts.
Thanks for caring & sharing!

:3 Keeping spare change in a jar by the front door is my mom's modus operandei! Helps you get rid of loads of pesky pennies AND make a great contribution. Even prebagging in ziploc baggies helps too. Toss is in their bags or ask them to give the baggies to mom and dad. Mom used those little halloween baggies some people use for candy assortments last year. Lots of bugged out eyes!

That's a fantastic idea! I only had two collecting money, but many candy manufacturers were sponsoring Unicef this year. I bought those instead of others as my little way of encouraging it and providing some benefit from a largely wasteful purchase.
It's always sobering to think that what we spent on Halloween candy this year could feed a family in other places for weeks. If we'd all indulge less and share more, it would all even out. All involved would be healthier for it too!

last year we had almost no kids come for candy. . The first little girl that showed up with a Unicef box, I just kept filling it and filling it till it was full! haha! the look on her face when I kept putting change in was priceless!

Little moments like that make life worth living . We get a little over a hundred every year, but luckily they don't all have the boxes or I'd be broke! I don't see many of them, so it's not an issue unless I'm stupid enough to forget.
