Water Parameters (PH/GH/KH): PH: 6-8 DH: 9-19
Temperature: 26-32 C
Special Requirements:Suitable Tankmates: Most peaceful fish with similar environmental conditions.
Minimum Group Size: Pair or trio
Diet: Will accept all kinds of commercial food, frozen. Some live food should be given such as daphnia or brine shrimp.
Sexing: Males are smaller and the yellow band on the caudal fin is usually more vibrant.
Breeding and Reproduction: Breeding is fairly simple. The fish are livebearers but unlike Poecilids the females cannot store sperm for successive broods. Instead a new mating must occur each time. The gestation period is generally between 55-60 days and between 25-35 fry are usually dropped. The fry are a large enough size that raising them is generally not too much of a challenge.
