Special Requirements:Suitable Tankmates: Most peaceful community fish. Smaller fish may not be best. Also may nip slower long finned fishes.
Minimum Group Size: 5 or more
Diet: Omnivorous, will eat plants, insects, crustaceans. Will also eat commercial foods.
Sexing: Females are larger and their belly's get swollen with eggs when they are ready to spawn.
Breeding and Reproduction: Typical egg-scatterer. A large aquarium should be used with this species due to their size. Fine leaves plants and or false bottom can also be used to help with saving the eggs from being eaten. Parents should be removed afterward and hatching usually takes about one day.
