View Full Version : If wishes were fishes...

I want to hear about your dreams...
No, not THOSE dreams - gotta e-mail those to me :mask: .

If wishes were fishes, my biggest dream is to have a house with a rec room that had built in tanks along three walls, with a room in behind for maintenance, feeding, etc. I would want them to look like one big tank, yet have magically hidden dividers that would allow me to keep all different types of fishies, side by side, without incident. It would be fully planted of course. I'd have to have a shark tank along one wall because that would just be too cool in a rec room. One wall would have to be all sorts of fancy & wild-type Livebearers I'm sure, maybe divided in half to include a Rainbowfish tank. Dunno what I'd do with the other wall, maybe marine.

There are no earthquakes in dreamland.:nah:

And to make it truly a dream, one must include a big muscular guy named Sphen to look after them for me.

What would your dreamy set-up be like?

Hey Melody, there are no earthquakes in Alberta :D

I'm working on my dream fishroom. It'll probably be one of those projects that never ends, but that's half the fun.

The room is about 12 feet by 23 feet long. It was my sons room untill he moved out a few months ago.

Phase 1 was the 'fish condo' ( See DIY ). It takes up almost one full wall.
Phase 2 is going to consist of 8 twenty gallon tanks, 4 of them on a common sump and the other 4 individually filtered.
That should use up about 9 or 10 feet of 23 feet of wall. Leaving some room to manuver around, I should have enough room for a couple of 50ish gallon tanks.

The last phase of the fishroom will be to put, hopefully two, huge tanks along the third wall. I'm hoping for 200 plus gallon tanks, but those are a long way away right now.

The 4'th wall I'm currently installing a row of kitchen base cabinets with a steel sink and running water. I'm also wiring each wall of tanks onto their own circut breakers so if anything goes wrong it won't take out the whole room, I have a friend who is a master electrician doing that work ( he owes me a couple of favors ) :D
I think my wife is seriously considering having me commited, but I figure I'll either get to enjoy an amazing fishroom or I'll be high on prescription drugs.

Lol Blainep, win win situation!

My plan is to recreate Lake Tanganyika under a gigantic greenhouse. For a small entry fee you will be able to enter the biodome and sip cocktails at the bar, with the option of taking a dip in the lake and swimming with the fish. I might open the roof in the summer, we'll see. But there will definately be tropical lounging while the blizzards rage outside. Some kind of massage parlour would probably be in order as well...

Blaine, its always good to make your dreams come true. I have to get a zillion dollars and then I'm gonna make mine come true too. In the meantime, I'm moving in with you.

I guess your Son doesn't have the option of coming home to Mom & Dad now - good thinking!

Mr. SB, its funny because I was going to add that Sphen would also give massages, but I thought that was dipping way to far into my dreams for anyone's comfort...lol.

Mr. Mykiss doesn't have time to dream...lol.

LOL... actually I use to have dreams all the time of going into the basement will walls full of tanks... and its' sorta turning out like that so I guess my fishy dreams are coming true!!! But one big dream would be having a 300 gallon tank to house some oscars and another 300 gallon tank to house some clarias cats, aside from the other tanks, and having enough money to pay someone to do the maintenance!

My dream tank would be a room that had a tank built into all four walls. The whole thing would be one big tank. The only other thing in the room would be a swivelling lazy-boy reclining chair in the middle of the room. And maybe a mini bar/fridge.

Hey why stop at 4 walls? Go for the 'surround effect' like I saw at the Aquarium on New Orleans. The room would be a tunnel through one giant tank (which could have dividers to keep adversaries apart ;) ). Lay back in your swivelling lazy-boy & enjoy the effect!

PS. Mini-bar/fridge a must!

I like that one too. I guess if I can't steal other people's dreams, I'll just have to visit everyone on a regular basis and share them instead. :)

Granted, I'll have to leave the house first, but anything is possible in dreams ;) .

Ah, think you're safe don't you? Well it just so happens that I fly for the cost of taxes only, and I have a Brother in Ontario.....lol.;) With the cost of shipping these days, it would almost be cheaper for me to fly down there to pick up stuff anyway  .

Melody

That's a very good question. He used to be in Scarborough but they moved recently. No forwarding address..lol....actually, I just have to dig out the address book.:Holiday-6:

Relocating False Bay to my yard so the next time I wanna do this...I won't have to sit on a plane for 21 solid hours to be with my beloved Fred.

Here are some photo's of myself and Fred...

And yes I have lost my mind, I've been obsessed with/diving with sharks since I was about 17. :)

Hmmm the other part of my dreams...To have an outdoor pond covered of course to keep my monster racoons at bay, that way I could have as many goldies as I wanted. And of course inside the house tanks specifically made for tosakin, top view ranchu's, side view ranchu's and a plane to take me to and from Tung Hoi Farms in China and the Thai Ranchu Center in Thailand. And of course and the oranda I so desperately want from DandyOrandas.com. How I wish he shipped to Canada. And since this is a dream, shipping is free. :)
