Any CAS members, we're having a home contest for aquarium beautiful as well as a home tour followed by a bbq on june 14. I'm working on my tank for the aquarium beautiful this weekend. There was great prizes last year!! If you're thinking of joining the Calgary club, this might be the time!!

What a great way for club members to get to see the tanks and fish of other members. Good luck in the contest!

I love it when clubs organize this stuff - it makes it all that much more fun. Have a blast and take some pictures for us!

Got the tank ready last night. It has 2 weeks to get everything rooted. My tanks are like me, confused!! I'm not a "pretty" tank person but a "settled" tank keeper. My own judging would be that I have way too much going on in there. It's my first time entering a contest like this so we'll see how it goes. Main thing now, is to do lots of water changes and decide on the fish( have way too many in there now!!). It's only 20 gallons so I might have a chance!!

Talked to Dave from CAS tonight, looks like Blaine's fishroom will be on the tour !

A moment of pride ... Then the realization of how much work I need to get done to have the fishroom in show off shape !

Knowing someone's going to be dropping by is the best and quickest way to get motivated to get things cleaned up and organized. I should know, I often live in chaos until someone calls and says they're stopping by. Now of course, when it comes to my apartment, what doesn't get organized can get shoved into a closet... but I don't think that works with fish.

LOL I was just thinking that. Nothing like 'Company's coming!' to have me look at the house in a whole new light.

Then I dim the lights, call it clean & go back online. ::D:

Do you know how many stops there'll be on the tour?

Unfortunately, I'm not sure how many stops as of yet. I think there's usually 5 or 6 and it's really a fun day. We do have more details on www.calgaryaquariumsociety.com (http://www.calgaryaquariumsociety.com)

Calgary Aquarium Society is the only club I've heard of that's doing this although there there may be other clubs doing something similar. I'm not aware of any clubs in BC that do it. It might be something to bring up at a club meeting and see if there is interest.

I gotta say, being a stop on the tour was a hoot !

To have other fishkeepers come into your fishroom and say WOW makes you feel pretty good !

Especially when some of them have been hobbyists longer than I've been alive !

You have put a lot of effort, work and time into that room and receiving recognition from the oldtimers in the hobby is awesome.

Actually last year, I was a "last minute" stop (didn't have enough fishrooms). So I had done no preparation but got many compliments. That was really awesome to hear!!! Blaine, I still have to see yours!!!!
