Males usually have a lot of tools so what do you have more of?

Do the tools I use at work count ?

no

I'm afraid the tools win this time. I am also a carpentry hobbyist and have enough tools to fix simple things on my car. It all adds up.

Then the fish win this one !

Maybe I went about this wrong, I counted species, not the hundreds of individuals. I have more endlers than I could ever afford in a tool count.

tools by a long shot!

Aaron, you need some Heterandria formosa. If I had as many tools as I have formosa, my house would sink into the magma far below.

I am with Gary on this one mind you he has sent me more fish than I have tools which is pretty good because my wife tells her family that I need tools for my bday and xmas.

I defininitely have more tools than fish (if you coun't individual fish, not species). I used to have more tools before when I lived in a house... as opposed to the current bachelor apartment) but even then it couldn't come close to the number of individual fish I have.:twitcy:

How are us lowly females supposed to see these poll results if we can't vote? I'm going to log out and come back as Melvin.

I looked on the dark side by clicking the VIEW RESULTS button without voting. It worked for me. 8 votes so far and no vote for shoes.

TOO easy... and my plan is way more fun.
You could come back as Mrs. YoungHottie. I bet you'd be very popular in your nice shoes... maybe a matching bow in the hair....

Am I the only one who can see the 'View the Poll Results" link on the poll I don't vote on? If so, I think I'll have to do something about that before our lovely Mermaid gives into temptation and and impersonates Neptune to see the results.

Nope, I can see it, I've just never had to use it before. Y'all take very good care of your dimwitted mythical creature...lol.

I have four pairs of shoes, seven hammers and 1234567890987654321
Heterandria.

I think you're exagerating.
Nobody has that many hammers.

Not so fast Mel. I can think of 5 hammers without even trying. I am sure it goes over 7 if I think about it and look around some.

I have one with a pink handle. Beat that!
Pamelajo
Jul 2nd 2009, 07:39 PM
If they could I bet they would never admit to it.:laugh:So win!! Oh by the way where did you get it? If I got a pink one maybe hubby would leave it alone. At one time I had a hammer, and screwdrivers in the house, for me they have made their way out to the garage.

My wife would say an excess of both!!
Tools have been banished from the kitchen (whats up with that?)
--although I still have three aquariums in there !!
Now that summer is in full swing I have three aquariums in the garage.
Slightly off topic but an excellent strategy ; once Fall rolls around,,,
" Honey, its sooo cold...we should move them inside....."::D:

Even better strategy: "Let's insulate the garage and I can get my fish out of the house." Worked for me....

We have an insulated 3 car garage with water to it, drain in the floor and a furnace and mine are all still in the house. I keep telling hubby it would make such a great fish room.
So far he is not listening. Apparently his car, his truck and my vehicle have priority over the fish.

My bf built a 4 car garage so he could have a second fish room out there. There has been some tension as I'm trying to lease tanks from him as my space is limited. He keeps telling me that I should be setting up a rack in my one bedroom apartment and that I don't really need a den anyhow. He has more fish than tools and myself more fish than shoes too.

i have more tools than fish right now, but they will soon be going to work to build the racks for the new fish room
soon as i clean the basement, as per the deal with the wifey

That sounds like a good deal. Does she realize how many tanks you can actually fit into the basement?

I went to the house of a man last week who showed me his fishroom in the basement. He had (drum roll) 240 tanks in place or planned. It's all well and good until you have to do water changes...
That was MTS with a very big M. Then again, he's kept fish since the sixties and is semi-retired...

she knows all too well how many tanks i can fit down there, i have over a dozen stacked against one wall, all empty
i came across a deal i could not pass up, someone was cleaning out a basement full of tanks, all i had to do was remove the tanks and they were mine
hence why she wants the basement cleaned, its getting cluttered as i wont let anyone near the stack-o-tanks for fear of them getting broken or a kid getting hurt

I couldn't enjoy that many tanks unless I hired someone to do the tank maintenance. It would take all of the fun out of it if I didn't. But then again, I don't want a fishroom either. I like having them around me... well, maybe a room for all of the smaller tank projects I have running or grow out tanks for fish that all look like their parents. The other babies I like to watch a lot so I can see what colour they're going to be, etc. It takes a lot of viewing time for me to even select what fish I'll be keeping out of a brood, and sometimes I narrow it down several times into smaller and smaller tanks before I'm done...lol. When I'm studying something in particular, I can spend an embarassing amount of time staring at the involved creatures, taking pic's, etc.
:coffee2: Ooooohhhhh.... sorry, little slow this morning. Loving couples need fishrooms to facilitate 'me time' and generally avoid divorce, flying frying pans or criminal charges. A semi-retired person would need more tanks to spend even more time in the spouseless room.
Talk about your higher purpose to fishkeeping!

i'm working on the water change problem
the "fish room" will be just for breeding/grow out tanks
i have a tank in almost every room,i keep fish cause i enjoy watching them
i'm thinking about either 1.. drilling all tanks one inch down, installing a common drain then just set a hose to each tank to slowly drip, i think this constant flow would keep water fresh and should not require declorinator because it adds so slowly
a LFS runs his tanks this way, but this might be expensive
just not sure if it really would be any different than changing out a few hundred gallons every weekend
and would require no buckets so might be worth the lil extra $
or 2...i could drill tanks 1/3 way down and valve each outlet then open valves to drain each week, get a large drum to mix dechlorinator then fill tanks with a pump/hose
for filters i am gonna plumb airline and first i'm gonna see just how long a fridge compressor will run 24/7 before i spend the hundreds of $ on a high output airpump
sounds easy eh? :P
btw, if you havn't figured it out yet, i'm a tradesman with a refrigeration certificate, so i can doo all this work for only supplies :)

Jul 4th 2009, 11:57 AM
So I gather that's how you justify the fishroom building to your wife... "but dear, it'll only be the cost of a few supplies"
Have you explained that it might necessitate buying a new tool or three?
If you're trying to figure out which way to go for water changes have a look at what Blaine did for his Fishroom (http://www.canadianaquariumconnection.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4172). It sure beats bucketing water.

Definately more fish than tools. I do have a toolbox, drill and dremel kit... all for aquarium purposes of course:wink:
