i just got a large amount of plants and restocked the tank from the big crash before christmas. Still not stocked with the amount of fish i'd like but we're getting there. I'm going to get more low front plants soon too.

Sorry to hear about that. Was that from the power outages? Did you lose many fish? From what I remember, these all look like new inhabitants. Nice fish (am partial to sailfins myself ;) ). The plants are looking really nice and that tank is a beauty... quite unique in how long it is.

the first crash was actually a spike - the gh shot right up overnight it seemed and i lost quite a few and i got a mysterious oil slick ontop of the water that i could NOT get rid of - it was horrible, and i had a large piece of driftwood that stuck out of the water a bit and it was completely covered in little bugs. I got rid of the wood, got more plants and voila - no more oil slick (which was there for probably 3 months)
then we started having power outages and i lost another probably 10 fish - bigger fish so you could really tell i was severely understocked. I got a ton of fish on boxing day but i should have got more. I lost only 6 from the probably 30-40 i bought so that was great! I always expect to lose more from boxing day fish.
Also when i changed my tank over to eco complete - my plants were not happy and most of them died but things are looking good now.

Your tank is looking good! I have lots of baby fish for you if you need to stock some more. What would you like? I have Sailfin Mollys, Liberty mollys, some sort of platy, Koi swordtails, L. Tridens.....
So, when are you coming over????

Sounds good, most of the babies need to grow a bit anyway. The Liberty Molly babies were a surprise, I only have a few of them. Same goes for the sail fin mollies, but I have a ton of L. Tridens, and more on the way. Give me a call sometime, or send me an IM on messenger. Talk to you soon!
