I just read a pond trick that I hadn't heard of before so I thought I'd pass it along and I hope you'll add any tips and tricks that you know too :D .
If your little swamp attracts mosquitoes, add a drop of cooking oil to the water every couple of weeks. It creates a film over the water surface that is harmless to plants but prevents mosquito larvae from coming up for air. ~ Explore the World of Water Gardening (http://www.mygreathome.com/outdoors/water_garden.htm)
That comes from a very thorough article about container ponds - clicking the link will lead you right to it. I'm assuming the suggestion is for a fishless pond?
So? Any tips & tricks that you've learned along the line? Any 'wish I'd known then's...'? Any regrets? Confessions? Gossip?
