One fancy tailed goldfish, from my barrel. Last night I went out to add some water to my barrel and noticed the pot with the lily in it was on the wrong side and was laying on it's side. Water seemed kind of dark and filter had stopped. So removed plants and started scooping for fish while I was draining. Not easy as water was really bad from the overturned pot. Could only find the two shubunkins. So the question is who has the third????

We have heron in the neighborhood, but barrel is hidden from the sky by a big maple directly overhead and a evergreen to the right so it totally blocks view of overhead flyers. We have not had raccoons since we got the dog, but it might be possible that they snuck in at night while we were sleeping. I can't see if being a cat as they would really have to get wet to catch one as they always hang out at the bottom when I am out there. I have had my barrel I believe 3 years with no fish dissappearing.

PS. the lily is slowly dying so it is gone now. I think there was just not enough light for it.

Aww, sorry your lost the the fancy tailed goldfish. I think I'd ruleout the heron too. More likely a racoon at night. If it was, it might be back tonight. Might be an idea to cover or partially cover the pond at night if you can.
