Amongst my running around and appointments today I managed to pick up some new critters.
I met Brian (ljtiggs) and picked up these handsome guys F. gardneri gold. They will be going in my 75 gallon. Which will be a community of platies, mollies, swords and male killis. They are not the best photos. The second even half the fish is missing shows of the fins nicely. These guys would not sit still at all in the bag fro a photo shoot.

Killie males will do fine in groups with very little trouble, however, if you add even one female, even of another killie species, all bets are off.
As with any 'place holding' territorial fish, think of the rule of four. Two males is a terrible combo. Three is a maybe depending on their individual characters. Four is a fairly peaceful tank with everything but the very few really aggressive species.

I was originally going to add the pairs of poliaki and striatum. But then decided I wanted more kinds of males in there, kind of thought the females might cause havoc. Thanks for verifying that. This way I can get more kinds of males without having to worry about were I am going to put the females separately. So if anyone has an excess of males down the road let me know.

LJTiggs is the original source for me of a lot of the livebearers I keep. Some people have been very kind in praising some of the fish I've sent them. It's my turn to say the fish I've had from ljtiggs have been astonishingly healthy and beautiful.
My kids think of him as the 'fish dealer' I meet in arena parking lots when he's passing through Ottawa. Every time I do that four hour round trip to meet him, learn and buy fish, it's like being a kid at christmas again.

So then you highly recommend him???? Brian started my interest in killis, and you kept it fueled, now with the both of you here I think I am in trouble.::D:

Recommend Brian? Grab your biggest net and haul the man down if he comes within range of you. Get fish from him! Don't let him get away!
Now Brian - I'll drive to Ontario and maybe do the funky chicken or my rarely seen Montreal Canadiens Stanley Cup victory dance to confuse Pam. You run into her house while she's still stunned and fill her tanks with killies. She's doomed.

Why didn't you tell me that yesterday before I met him to get these beauties.:Waiting:
I knew he was into killis but never knew about the livebearers, until we got talking yesterday.
