It certainly doesn't surprise me that any form of intelligence was spotted in Cichlids - there's something in their eyes that says they're smart. My Son's does tricks better than a puppy....lol.

Makes ya wonder though, especially when you combine these little tidbits with other observations/studies, like the article about Whales having emotions (http://www.canadianaquariumconnection.com/forum/showthread.php?t=388).
