I think that the registration should require that the person registering should be required to state the city or town that they reside in. This would help the seller to get the postage costs for the shipment as quickly as possible. It would also help the buyer know if he/she was getting short changed.

EG. - Still waiting to find out where a buyer lives - Emailed the person twice with no response. but if i knew what city or town I could at least have got the postage information ready.:frown:

We encourage all members to include their location in their profile here on the forum. However, as the auction is completely separate, there is no prerequisite that they join the forum too.

The auction software does not generate a members list so only locations of buyers are visable and only when that buyer has a current auction listing. (To enable buyers to know how far the package would have to be shipped). If the buyer is concerned about the cost of the shipping, they can contact the seller prior to bidding with their postal code for a quote. Otherwise, one can assume they are willing to accept whatever the shipping cost the seller specifies.

Failure to follow through with a purchase is not only inconsiderate but in violation of the rules as they have entered into a contract to purchase the item. People who act in this manner are wasting the sellers time and deserve negative feedback at the very least. Repeated offences will result in auction banning.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. This is not a first occurance of failure to complete a transaction by a buyer but I had hoped it was a rarity. Apparently, I will need to update the auction rules definining a timeline for completion of transactions after the close of an auction. These may or may not suit the inividual seller, so members feel free to set in your individual listings a required (reasonable) deadline by which payment is to be received.

Brian, I will contact you regarding the auction in question.
