This is my Zebra crayfish.. goes by the name Zoidberg his job, master architect and tunneler ;)

he grows to about 6-8 inchs
he likes warmish water 68-77f
ph can be 6.5-7.5 just not to acidic or he will melt.

i dont see him much but hes really cool when i do.
they can live in 10gal tanks but i gave him a 33 with a big cave.
they will eat fish and plants, but only if theres nothing else they are scavengers and will eat ANYTHING. i keep Zoid with a rainbow shark that was to mean for my cummunal, he killed my female gourami, but hes tough enough to live with a cray and not get eaten in his sleep, they eat during the night so i feed him before i turn out the lights, i dont feed the fish but he finds his own food. there is also gaint ramshorns in there and i think the cray eats the clutches cuz they disapper just as fast as they are made, but some still make it, but he will also eat the snails.

they should be kept alone or in a big tank with hiding for both the more hiding the less chance of fighting, they can breed when there 2inchs.

heres a video, i apologize for the jerkyness, my camera is my phone and it hates videos:laugh:

He's really cool! At one point I think he wanted to challenge you for the phone  . One smart smart shark to stay out of his clutches... he's pretty big.

:laugh: im sure he would try... ive been thinking of putting the phone in a zip lock and getting a video from the inside, but now that you mention that he'd probley take it from me.

yeah that shark is smart, but i think he knows what awaits him if he doesnt pay attention cuz hes really paranoid, but he sleeps with the cray so maybe there friends

I'd like to post this as a species profile in the articles section - any objections? Or you can do it... people must wonder when they view the index and most things have my name on them....lol.

Thanks so much for sharing them with us. I've really enjoyed learning about the creatures that I can't presently keep.

Don't make me get my whip out young man :Whip: lol.

So what's the hold-up? Don't you want baby Crays? Not ready for that kind of commitment? Want to finish school and settle down with a nice girl first?

Corbin

the only hold up is, no female.. or male, i dunno there REALLY hard and painful to sex :nah:

lol.

I add my 3 convicts to the tank today cuz they attacked my apple snail and took a chunk out of him . but now there the ones running for there life (sorta) the shark and the cray are working together, lol, the shark herds them up like sheep to zoidberg and then he charges after them.. karma sucks

Oh dear - not snail-friendly hmm? Don't be too hard on them - they do whatever comes naturally. I think you need a snail-only tank :D .

Corbin

i think they will live, i wont let them be eaten alive.

i have a snail only tank.. just not apple snails or any other type.

i just saw him out for the first time after his molt, he must have gained an inch and is looking amazing :D, he seems to becoming more interested in the convicts too. i saw him chase after one cuz it tried to eat his food, but i dont think he wants to eat them :nah:

Corbin

I think the convicts will be fine there getting big fast and the cray is always full, and hes much happier now cuz i just re designed his home. i added cray friendly size substrate so he can dig much better, and i made his cave way bigger.
