So I done the pea treatment. 4 days so far. wondering if i should do longer?

I put in 1/2 teaspoon of epsom salt for a 25 gallon. Won't do more till a water change friday.

Swimming and the floating have calmed down but not perfect. Still has moments but the stringy poop I'm not happy with.

Any more ideas?

For all things goldie I recommend the wise folks at The Gab (goldfish and aquarium board).
There are some great articles including info on bacterial infections causing floatiness, food recommendations and whatnot.
Good luck with the little guy.

Hey amaruq

Is your fish having trouble keeping itself upright, or is it just lethargic ?

If it's trouble keeping itself upright, you might be looking at a swim bladder problem. I don't know much about them (the fish or disease) but I have heard of it and some of the symptoms.

White stringy poop is often a sign of internal parasites or infection. Not always parasites, but if there are other symptoms it could be a sign of another problem.

Sorry to hear you lost Freckles. Sometimes no matter how hard we try there is nothing we can do to help. I'm sure you'll miss him.

Sorry to hear that. Floatiness and associated issues seem to be a real problem with fancies. From my reading they are both prone to these issues (ie bacterial infections can trigger it), and some are genetically destined to be floaty as a result of them being bred to such a specialized shape.
