Here's a question for those of you who work in an office (or anyone with some fashion sense for that matter): Is it ok to wear a dark brown pair of dress shoes and a matching dark brown belt with black dress pants? If it matters, I would be wearing a white shirt and a tie with black and brown diagonal stripes. Just curious if I should try pulling this off. If not, then I will have to go buy some brown pants in order to wear this pair of shoes to work.

no no, dark's and dark's don't go together.
so make them black.
your tie and white shirt will look fabulous with all the black.

IMUO, the black and brown in the tie would kinda bring it all together, BUT...
the U stands for uneducated, and I'm a guy who once wore red sweat pants with a bright blue and yellow sweat shirt, topped off with a green and white hat.
Granted, they represented different sports teams, and I was lounging at the lake, but the only thing missing from that snazzy ensemble
was a big foam nose and giant floppy shoes.

gonna add my voice to the chorus- no, no, no. Might as well wear pink and orange, or knee high socks with safari shorts. Halloween's past, dude:-)

I've been giggling quite a bit since this thread was put up, and I've got to say that it amazes me that so many people have fashion advice to offer :P I shudder to think of the things I've worn to work (because I haven't cared enough to ask xP)

Better they remember your character than your clothes, coordinated or not:-)

I'm late in, but for what it's worth...
If the browns are all of similar shade, it's fine. The tie is what makes it fine, using it in three places makes it fine, the white shirt offsets it. ::D: The brown/black thing is more if you're wearing one item in brown and the rest black or all dark colours. A fashion rule is a fashion rule, a look is a look - all encompassing. I'd take it all the way with an ivory shirt, but that's downright nitpicky...lol. Don't forget a matching handbag!
Now pink and red, that's a screamer - you just don't, but that's because the combo always looks tacky. No exceptions. It's something about the two shades.
I suppose you could do like some women do and buy an outfit to go with the shoes...lol.
You're a good looking young guy - you can carry off any look you want to. I find it refreshing to hear that a young man gives any thought at all to business attire - it's a rarity these days! I'm betting that's exactly what anyone who sees you dressed in that outfit will think too.
