Ok, gimme your fave (primarily) red fish and you're fave (primarily) green fish, if you would please! Marine or freshwater, domestic or wild-type, old or new.

:Holiday-13:Red: That awesome blood red velvet shade in well-bred domestic Swordtails & Platy's.

:Holiday-12:Green: X. captivus (Green Goodeids) - it's a subtle, fleeting green but I love the shade.

And I'll throw in inverts too...

:Holiday-13: Red: Really nice Red Cherry Shrimp.

:Holiday-12:Green: Jade Applesnails, the kind that has been selectively bred to be a definite green.

As a Christmas fish, I'll take one of several killies that have green and red in technicolour on them: for green, Fundulopanchax oeseri or Aphyosemion sp. "Oyo" are the nicest I've ever seen. For red and green together, Aphyosemion striatum in one of the green morphs can't be beaten.
My favourite red on a fish is the cardinal tetra, with honourable mention to the rummy nose tetra and to the tiny H amandae, also a Characin.
Three closely related Apistos also have cool red on them, Apistogramma (s) hongsloi, veijita and mcmasteri.
There's a green stick catfish, farlowella type that I've seen in photos from the wild, but never in tanks. It's the greenest of the green that I can think of.
There's a killie sold as the 'Christmas killie', Aphyosemion marginatum, that doesn't even class in the competition in my books. It's green and red, but not striking with either. F. oeseri is a really Christmasy fish - if any jump out this week, I may put them on the tree.

We do not advocate or encourage the use of fish on Christmas trees or as other decorations. You have to be more responsible with your recommendations as a mentor.

Some very festive fish indeed!

I can't imagine going around with a handle like that! Do you at least shorten it to Hem?

You know I have to do this, right? I hereby dub you HEM, Mr. Jewels.

I'm feeling more merry already with these festive fishies!

Hemichromis lifalili - yeah, that should win for the red fish. That is a beautiful creature.

I believe, by rights once knighted its 'Sir Hem'

Twas the first fish I ever had put eggs down. Still have a soft spot in the stone heart 'o mine for them. Truthfully ours were bimaculatus - have heard them called neon jewels.

I do not think I ever got a picture that did the colour justice

Redder when rutting only.

Impressive! They even sparkle!

Would you settle for Mr. Hem? I don't think I'm authorized to use a sword anyway, ever since 'the incident'. :Nobodys_Perfect: I can slap you with a swordtail and that's about it.
