View Full Version : baby swordtail can't open his mouth to eat......help!

he's been trying for 3 days to eat, I don't want him to die, he is my halloweeny fish, my first fry born in my tank.
he stays down at the bottom, hidden in the weeds...he is weak so he can only swim up a bit.
there is nothing white around his mouth.....it just stays open a bit...he cannot move it for the food to get in.

yes, its in one position.
I read your problem, I'm sorry you lost yours.
guess mine is headed that way.
I will try and catch him, but he is small and weak, he may not survive even being out of water for a second.::(:

If it's a newborn fry, it's probably a birth defect. In this case, there really isn't anything you can do.

he was born in October, he is a good size, but he is not big enough for me to even get close to his mouth as I tried yesterday.
