Picked up two Bala Sharks today after doing some research the past few days on them. I think they are beautiful fish. Yes I know they get up to 13" long. That is why I have a 125 gallon aquarium on order that should be in any day and then I can cycle it. Not that they need the large tank for awhile since they are only a couple inches long right now.

Here are my two Bala Sharks.

Thanks.

I have been planning on a 125 gallon for awhile so I have been researching different fish to see what I want to stock it with. Found a couple fish I really liked but then through reading about them discovered they were not suitable for a community tank. So I'm still deciding what else to get.

Lovely fish! What else are you thinking of putting in the 125 g?

Some tinfoil barbs and I want a few smaller fish (2-3 inches) that will add some color. I had thought about Tiger barbs and Green barbs, but not sure they are a good idea as what I have read about them they can be fin nippers. So I'm looking for something with some color to spruce it up.

I wonder if Odessa barbs might be a good way to add some colour but keep with the general theme of silver scaled fish. I really know nothing about the compatibility of these fish but having seen them in person recently I can attest to their beauty.

I had to look up more info on the Bala shark and the Tinfoil Barbs. Wow! Both are species that grow ~ 13" and should be in schools >5. What about increasing the number of Bala's and adding something smaller but colorful, eg. Rainbowfish.
