OK folks. I want to pick your brains. I've never been to Prince George but will be stopping over there on my way from Jasper to Prince Rupert this spring or summer. Is there anything of interest to do, see, etc. while I'm there? Suggestions? (And, no I can't go shopping for fish as it would be waaaaay to long before I got them home.).

You can just ship the fishies to me along the way and I can give most of them back to you when you get home.

We'll be taking the the train (the 'Skeena') from Jasper to Prince Rupert. It stops overnight in Prince George. Will be taking lots of pics for sure. I haven't been on a train in more than 25 years. (but have travelled from by train between Vancouver and Montreal and Toronto many times). In recent years, all my travels in BC have been by car. So this should be a nice relaxing trip with a different viewpoint.
As for the island, I was over there and did the Oceanside area a couple of years ago (but did not go to Comox). We'll be over on the island as well. Anything in particular you suggest we see in Comox, Fugu?

I lived up there for 8 years....It's a typical northern town, with typical northern town problems....Downtown core is old and run down...the university is attracting all the new business development ...The new rink up there is home to the Cougers (WHL)...Worth checking out a game in a great hockey town, if ya get the chance.....They have a beautiful new casino, if you're feeling like losing some coin.....What hotel are you stayin in?? I can tell you what's around there and recommend resteraunts or pubs.....

i swam in the inlet in comox last year and it was the freshest swim in the ocean i've had for a long time...
yeah, i usually do the road trip, didnt know you were takin a train, i'd appreciate the no driving bit, but i'd hate the not being able to stop or go where you want aspect about it...
but have a good one when spring rolls around....
post some good pix :D
all the best

Thanks for the info. Haven't checked out hotels yet as we are still in the preliminary stages of planning the trip.

I lived there many years too. For things to do I would suggest gravel pit parties and shooting off rifles. The rest of the trip is nice though, I tried to take the train to Prince Rupert once but they wouldn't let us take our bikes on. We ended up riding all the way from Burns lake. Nice trip, would be better with less grueling effort and knee pain though.
