I snapped a couple of shots for Facebook so I thought I'd share them here too.

Limia sp. 'Tiger', which you may recall I got last year. These were born shortly after their parents' arrival. There's an awesome article about their ancestors by Bill Allen in April's Tropical Fish Hobbyist Mag.

And here's some more, keeping company with some wild-type Guppies that I got from Gary last Summer (also grown out from fry born here):

This has become one of my favorite tanks, and obviously it's not the decor....LOL. The Tigers are definitly a fave Limia and I love the colours on the Guppies. Even the females are a nice shade. The best part is the tank is very undemanding - the fish thrive with no special treatment. Clean water & good food is all they need.

Looking forward to doing some shipment receiving soon!

PS: If you get enquiries from strangers Gary, I credited the line to you on Facebook and fully expect a cut of all sales.:mask:

I love these guys. Now you're getting me interested in Limias.

Limias are definitly a fave Livebearer group of mine. They're much like their cousins, Mollies. They're curious, friendly and most never bother anyone. I did own some obnoxious Melanogaster at one point, but I'm not sure if that's typical behaviour for them. They couldn't actually harm anything, but they did harass the more laid back fish.

A cut on my sales of guppies Melody? Okay, I'll go to the car and get the Canadian Tire money out of the dashboard. There's goes the family university fund...

Are Limias still Limias, or have they been regrouped into Poecilia? I'm told they have, but I haven't gone looking for it in writing.

Good point! Poecilia, last I heard, but so few know about it that I feel like I'm claiming they're a new species when I use their proper name  . In the ALA spawning records, they use Poecilia. The Livebearers journal has ridiculously learned technical editors so I'm sure they'd say something if it was no longer current. Calling them 'Limias' automatically brings up a group picture, whereas Poecilia brings up a huge group picture. I should be going with P. (Limia) ______.
