This morning, my P. Bridgesii applesnails, were (for the most part) comfortably snoozing, on the gravel, rocks plants or on the glass. I say 'obviously snoozing' because a great many of them were on their backs, snuggled in their shells.

I proceeded to clean the tank and do a thorough gravel vac. Immediately upon completion, every snail headed to the gravel I had just disturbed to find goodies unearthed and completed my gravel cleaning for me... true little janitors they are! What amazes me is how quickly they zero-in on the edibles I have unearthed. I wonder if it is their sense of smell or if they have become preconditioned to know that there will be treasures to find when I clean the tank.:twitcy:

They definitly have a sniffer - one piece of sinking food dropped into the tank results in a pile of snails in record time. I've noticed the same behaviour - they also head up the glass, eating particles that stick there and up to the old waterline if your water level had dropped before the water change - lots of good stuff accumulates there.:D
