so i came home today to more eggs!

except this time i don't know what laid them, i can rule out everything but my angelicus loaches (highly unlikely), my sterbai cories, or my silvertip tetras.

Small groups of fairly large eggs on the glass? My guess is your cories. The eggs are fairly tough and can be removed carefully with your fingers and hatched elsewhere.

You seem to have a lot of very happy fish, or maybe spring has just arrived in Calgary?

if i were to put them in a breeder net in the main tank, would i need to put an airstone on them? or could i just leave them be in ther and hope for the best?

They should be okay in a net like that, but it would be hard to feed them since food would go right through. I used to hatch them in jars or bowls. You don't need an airstone, since in nature the parents don't fan them like cichlids do.

A friend showed me how to make a great in-tank compartment out of a plastic bottle. He uses square 1 liter water bottles, but I've been using 2 liter juice bottles. You cut the top off the bottle where it starts to curve -- this is the stiffest part of the plastic. With a hot nail, melt holes in the sides, but stop at least a few inches above the bottom. Attach a couple of suction cups (dollar store) to the bottle and put it in your tank with the top out of the water. During water changes, water will remain in the bottle to the level of the lowest hole even if the water level drops well below the bottle. He raises fry of some fairly delicate Lake Tanganyika fish in these bottles suspended in his large tanks. The bottles are transparent (PETE plastic) so you can see what's going on in them.

Some java moss in the bottle would provide first food and security for your fry.

oh man, i don't have any java moss, but i will be starting to feed bbs in 2 tanks, i suppose i could just feed a breeding net... i guess if the eggs make it overnight, ill go grab a net tomorrow.

They do look like cory eggs. Yes, it seems the laying season is in full swing. The bottle hatchery sounds great, BAE3, thanks!

With my eggs I put them in a small mesh bag, one of those used for holding filter media. It worked great but it was hard to get the fry out once they hatched because it was long and thin.

Good luck with the little ones!

i noticed a bunch more "left over" eggs, only the trace of an egg on the glass, but not my girlfriend is talking about buying me a 20 gallon tank for my b-day, so those pesky cory will get a breeding tank

can i keep them as a species tank, and leave the young to grow up with the adults?
