From what I remember, the biggest challenge to breeding Nerites is the need for eggs or hatchlings to be in a marine environment.

Once they're adult snails they're ok in freshwater.

Sounds like someone will need a reef tank to continue this experiment .......

that egg covered shell was one of the shells that you bagged up those brevis with. Want it back and maybe contribute to this experiment? :)

I did a little quick research, depending on the species, they'll probably need at least brackish water (1.008) to full marine to hatch out.

If you're going to be in my end of the city, drop a few by, I'll put them in the sump and see if they'll hatch out.

It can be done, but it ain't easy. If you go to Applesnail.net and do a search or two, you should find Donya's successful experiment with it.

I was hoping to try breeding them someday. Meanwhile, I have bookmarked this site for reference.

Good luck with this project and keep us posted!

I tried to get the eggs to hatch in the brackish tank and didn't work :( I have eggs all over but nothing happened. The eggs are super sticky too. I had to take a razor blade to remove. On the other hand I already have rabbit (snail) babies :)
