Well, the time has come for fish to enter the equation.
Vince gave me a leaf full of zebra angel eggs that I am working on, and my wife is picking up fish for me from people in Edmonton today.
We are swimming! well. almost.
Getting some F1 BN plecos, just wee guys but very excited about it!
Edit: and no, they are not going in the same tank! haha!

Sounds great... and exciting. What kind of fish is your wife picking up in Edmonton?

haha! I have been faithfully taking pictures Melody. But I know that at some point I will have to remember how to open a ... whatever that internet site is called that lets you put pictures on it, then link to them... account and upload my pics from my camera... etc.
I took pictures of the leaf covered with eggs that Vince gave me. Stupid camera wouldn't allow a real nice close up though. for some reason it refused to take the picture. I have gotten so lazy with automatic cameras, but they hate it when they have to focus through something.
Honestly though. Pictures will be forthcoming. Including of my homely daughters. (just trying to be modest. Truth is they all look like their mother, and are beautiful).
So fish:
-Getting a group of Bolivian Rams (darned if I recall the species name, they aren't apisto's but I was quite smitten with them. very pretty, I will get the species name later).
-Triple black angels (omg. they are sooooo gorgeous). Mama green lighted them, but I still think I will get some golds at some point, just because she likes them so much. Just won't cross them.
- F1 BN plecos:Very excited about these. BN plecos was one of my first catfish spawns, and was pure luck. I wrote a very funny article about them, but that was back before articles were really saves in electronic form, so it only exists in my library... and the libraries of the fish clubs that republished it. IIRC, I won an FAAC writing award for it... hmm. I should find that... Was titled 'Spawning the clublets'
In contact with some folks in the U.S. about some killie eggs. Still sorting out payment methods etc. but hoping to be running a couple species of Nothos this year. I had spawned N. Guentheri in the past, but I reallly like the looks of the Zanzibar variant, so I think I will pursue those.

i know tanks a lot had the zanzibars, so you should inquire locally as to see if anyone is breeding them

Mikrogeophagus (or Microgeophagus or Papiliochromis) altispinosa. Extremely nice fish, much less delicate than the usual rams (M.orP. ramirezi). The water they come from is neutral to slightly alkaline and not very soft. I like the 'big noses' on them!

If you can find it and type it in, I think the admins would put it in the articles section here. I'd like to read it.

Have you tried aquabid.com? Most vendors accept payment by PayPal.

yah. still working on getting paypal set up...
hmm. Not sure I am willing to type out the whole article again! haha! Partially because my writing was probably worse then, and it hasn't gotten much better! FAAS.. I went looking for the certificate but couldn't find it. I did find the 3rd place certificate for my oldest daughter who wrote an article as a jr member about spawning swordfish, and how to sell them to a store.
I will think about it though. it was an amusing anectdotal article, not sure there was that much useful info in it, but it made me laugh. (mostly because it is a true story).

Edit: tried to find it on their website, but they only go back to 2005. I think it was 94 that I won an award.
