My fuse blew for a little bit yesterday and I haven't been able to get my renaxp to turn back on since. I cleaned out the propeller today and everything, still nothing turns on. The motor does not even run.

Any ideas guys? I have a sick filter!

Usually cleaning does it. If not, you may have to pour water into the filter to 'prime it'. Otherwise, a surge may have fried it. Those are my guesses anyways. Good luck!

Suggestion: Take the impeller out and turn it on to see if the motor will run without it or if it's just the impeller that is sticking. If it runs, then the motor is fine and something is jamming the impeller (it doesn't take much).

I second Jay's idea. It doesn't take much algae build-up to stop the impeller. I got home yesterday and my XP2 wasn't moving any water but the motor was still running. I had to give it a really good cleaning before the impeller would spin freely. Luckily I have an air stone running in that tank.

I did take the impeller out, thast what i meant when I said propeller lol. and I cleaned it.. and it still didn't go. The motor isn't evcen running. Good thing I have multiple filters on some of my tanks so I just stuck a running HOB on the tank in question. Ill try again in a couple of days. Maybe it's just busted!

I'm going to put my rose-colored glasses on and say you mean baseballs, because I'm sure you're going to remember where you're playing any second now :Whip: .

As for 'women!', I was going to say that the guys are probably rolling their eyes about now...lol.

Sorry, I knew what you meant by 'propeller', however, I guess I didn't word my reply very clearly. So I'll give it another try...lol

To test the motor: unplug the unit, remove the impeller, plug the unit back in & move the impeller close to the motor as if about to insert it (just don't put it all the way in). If as you get close you can feel the vibration (caused when the magnet in the impeller is close enough) then the motor is fine and it's likely a problem with the impeller. Good luck!

Just don't insert the impeller when the motor is running. You'll start to feel a slight vibration at about an inch before the impeller would actually be inserted...the closer you get to the opening where it goes in the motor the stonger it gets and remember a little sludge will stop it from spinning so I think you're strong enough to hold it back. ;) If no vibration, then I'd say the motor is dead.
