Went down to feed the fish tonite and it looks like my big male Ameca Splenden got into a quite the fight today. :Scared:
He's pretty beat up, I separated him into his own tank, put on a mature HOB and added a little salt to the tank water to prevent infection.
I'm guessing that one or more of the juvenile males is getting territorial and lookin to take over the group. Looks like I'll have to separate them into different tanks.
Anything else I can do for the beat up male ?

I find them to be extremely pugnacious and very big on fin munching - no nipping about it, munching. They're a fine example of how off a 'Community' rating can be, in my experience.
Same thing happened to one of my males, along with half the fish in the tank before I gave them away. They appear to be a very tough fish and the male recovered nicely. I added a drop of tea tree oil but I don't think that's absolutely necessary since they heal so well, I just didn't know that at the time. Wounds heal most efficiently in clean conditions and the salt will help to keep the bacteria at bay. Nice work :) . Hope he makes a full recovery very soon.

Well, my big boy Splenden is looking a little more active tonite and his color looks better. He was looking pretty gray last night. No signs of any rot or fuzz on chomped up fins.
Hopefully this is the road to recovery.

Glad to hear that he's looking better. I'll be hoping for you. Keep us posted, if you would please. Always good to hear about the wild-types. There's very little documented about them.
