I put Tatian Moon sand in my 65g about two months ago. Right now, the average depth is about 1.5 inches...Just wondering what anyone else has experienced using sand....

Also, seeing that pleco poop seems to accumulate daily, would there be any advantage to putting some medium sized river rock on top of the sand to take away this eyes sore?? I've got a few weeks off work right now so i thought this would be a great time to do some aquascaping...Also looking for places to buy granite or slate. I'd like to build a few more mountainous caves.....

I would imagine that fish poop on top of the sand is a good thing, it makes it easier to vacuum out. Gravel would just trap all that stuff and your water quality would not be as good.

oh it is a great thing...Problem is that i find myself doing roughly a 10% waterchange every second day....If i leave it any longer, there is far too much poop because ALL my fish tend to poop in the same spot:(.....The water quality isn't my concern as it is pristine, but more the asthetics...

all my tanks but one are sand bottom.. and since I do not have plants in them i just put enough sand to cover the bottom. so less then a cm of sand per tank.
