Oh gosh, I don't think I could pick just one... Here are some possibilities, in no particular order:

Nazca plains, to see the line drawings
Australia, just to see it and for the opals as well LOL.
Charlotte Islands in BC - to see the spirit bears and whales
Badlands to go dinosaur bone hunting
Polar Bear Provincial Park in Ontario to see the bears of course
China, to walk the wall

Too many places, so little time...

I'd like to learn the mandarin language and spend a few years travelling through China. All about history, artifacts, different cultures. I practice Tai Chi, Qi Qiong, so going back to it's roots, so to speak.

The one place in the world I must go before I leave this existence is Scotland. The countryside looks so beautiful. I would be in my glory to ride a Highland Pony (or any horse for that matter) through the Highlands. When I go I will definitely be staying in one of the castles too. It is an expensive trip....hence why I haven't gone yet.

Oh, forgot two. You just reminded me. England, because I feel I have lived there before and feel a special affinity to it. And the Moon. Made a promise to myself that before I die in this life, I have to visit the moon. I don't care if I'm 100 at the time. Strap me in and launch me! If I die there, well, that's not my problem...:swoon::laugh:

 I specifically said THIS planet. But I hear ya!

There really is so many amazing places in this world too see, wether for architecture, ancient civilizations, incredible landscapes... etc., it really is hard to name just a couple.

I've always wanted to retrace my family roots and visit Scotland and Germany, but my biggest motivation for traveling overseas has long been to experience the vast array of wildlife.

Australia and the Galapagos islands have long been at the top of the list, but it was Peter Matthiessen's book "The Tree Where Man Was Born" that first made me want to visit Africa.

I was 5 or 6 when that book came out, and my favorite shows then were "Wild Kingdom" and "Untamed World".

Sorry, Layton, forgot about the planet limitation. Wildlife is definitely a big attraction for me as well . Should have added a photo safari in Africa as well.

Hey, can I share a neat story? Many, many years ago, when I lived in Poland, my favourite thing to do with my dad, besides going fishing, was to go visit the local zoo. My favourite animals? The skunk and the racoon. I thought these guys were just the coolest animals. Imagine a cute looking fur ball, with a mask on his face, "washing" his food before eating it? Or another cute fur ball, all black, with a pretty white stripe and huge plume of a tail, able to strike a debilitating spray of scent at predators? I was thoroughly impressed and hoped very much that I would be able to see these animals in their natural environment someday.

Imagine my surprise and delight when I realized these are common animals here in Canada!

MDFA.CA has chosen the moon as his final resting place. I guess this place would suit me fine.
Just roll my wheelchair up to the canyon - let the wind turn me into prairie dust

Yes, animals we think are exotic are taken for granted in the lands they call home. Zoos allow those that can't afford to travel to see creatures in their natural environment to at least have a glimpse of them and learn something about them. And margaret, even though I take raccoons for granted (they wander the neighborhood), I still think they're cute (despite being pests and getting into everything. )

Beautiful spot but I think the winds would get to me. At 90 you would feel that if you spread your arms you might take flight at any moment. What were the temps like?

With your shirt unbuttoned and spread as wings, you can lean in about 60 degrees.:wideeyed:
Thats a fact - my son had to try it. :err:

Overnight temp was 17 C @ midnight and Temp hit near 25 during the day.
bring your chapstick @ %30 humidity you can spit anywherer you want - its not going to hit the ground.

Man, I can't narrow this one down. I want to go everywhere. Let's see - I need a place that has ocean, rocky shorelines and freshwater rivers running into it. Ideally, it has a town nearby, and a real city not too far away for when I need air pollution to settle my lungs down. I've found such places in Ireland, Wales, Newfoundland, the Maritimes, Belize, Mexico and the States, but I've only just begun looking.
I don't care if it's hot or cold, but it must have beer and music. I figure there are a couple of million km of such coastline out there, and right now, I have neither time nor money to go to any of it.:frown:

Ah well, at Christmas I'll get to throw snowballs into the Atlantic and fill my pockets with nice aquarium rocks. I just have to be patient.

Yeah, you throw snowballs into a river, and they sink. Throw them into the ocean, and the ocean has a way of looking like it just might throw them right back.

I've never been to BC. Horror or horrors, I've never traveled west of Lake Erie. The centre of the country has never pulled - it has no ocean. BC would be interesting, especially as I've yet to see the Pacific, but on my budget, it's always cheaper to travel out of Canada than within it. I used to have the "go east, young man" thing going, now it's "go east or south, middling old man" that's operating.

Gary, if you wait until you retire it gets cheaper to travel: A return senior's fare to Vancouver and back is only something like $380 via Greyhound (mind you that's sitting up for days on a bus. :twitcy: ). Just think you could even bring your wife along on the adventure and pay a 'companion' fare (only 1 of you would have to be 65) which I think is something like 40% or 50% off.
