Practical Fishkeeping Magazine has a very interesting article on some marine invertebrates (though beautiful creatures) which you should avoid for various reasons, from the difficulty in providing their very specific dietary requirements, to some species releasing toxins which will kill your fish to being active predators of other occupants of your tank.
Article here (http://www.practicalfishkeeping.co.uk/content.php?sid=3126).

I had never heard of many of them either. So many are really pretty. I really like the sea apples but one can see why they're not a good choice for a tank.

Good find !
I did keep most of what was on that list and had goos sucess ... I fed rotifilers and golden pearls mixed together .
The one thing I would have to say DONT DO is the sea slug aka cucumber .
I woke up one morning to find the tank wiped out because it died ...... I still have the lighting so you never know maybe after our move I will get back at it :-)
