Well today was another great day for my fish addiction! For the last few months ive been trying to not purchase any more fish while I was waiting for some Pinoy angelfish to arrive in town. And come in town they did! Finally!

I picked up 5 Pinoy blacks and 5 pinoy smoky angels! They are only quarter sized right now, but I know from experience that these fish can double in size in just a month or 2 at this age. The 180g tank will be set up and started soon to accomodate them.

I also picked up 5 wild caught blue acaras. These are a "peaceful" south american cichlid that i haven't seen very much of lately. When I saw them up for sale and for only $5 i couldn't resist!

For now all these fish are in a 55g that was cichlid free so they won't be bullied and will get to grow up with one another.

I will take pictures later, but don't be dissapointed if you can't see the black ones, I sorta have a black background :P I'm really going to have to think hard on the color ill be going with on the 180g.

Dude they are awesome! They don't have as much of the blue sheen as the smokies, but they are spectacular none the less. As you know im more of a reg fin type of guy, and harold came through. All my fish have reg fins and are a good size too. Between quarter and loonie size.

The blue acaras are something else too, when they settle in they will be a wonder to themselves. They've got beautiful red and blue tails, and as they get bigger they will get more blue in the face.

And to top it off, the 1 L007 pleco and 2 L66 plecos that a buddy gave me have really drawn me back to my 55g. That tank has seriously been neglected since I moved to my new place. When all the dust settles from the new tanks arriving, its gonna get a major make over.

Just watch closely - I only tried growing angels and blue acaras together once (so I may have had simple bad luck), but when the acaras got to 2.5 inches, they made the angels into angels.

thanks for the info gary.

The angels will only be in the 55g for the next month or so, after that the 180g should be ready for them. So im hoping that while the fish are young, they'll try to get along.

I managed to snap a couple pics of the fish tonight. Im gonna have to figure something out to get the smoky angelfish pictures to come out ok. The blue acara are still very skittish at this time and I couldn't get a nice picture. So here's so pinoy black angel pictures

Those angels are beauties. Didn't you know that one of the reasons we take pictures of our fish is to remind us to clean the glass.

What does the "pinoy" stand for? I'm not familiar with domestic angel strains, and am just curious.

It's a slang for Philippines, it also means that the angels have fancy sheens to them. The blacks dont show it as much as the smokies though
