So, mama bear, 2 of her offspring daughters and an aunty all headed off this morning for the Dominican Republic for a week long 'all girl vacation'.

Which means - no honey do list for almost a week! You'd think she would have left a request list but she didnt! /insertevillaugh.

Now a normal man might contemplate all the trouble and evil he can get up to in a week of bacheloring it. (Anything from Risky business to Ferris Buehlers day off comes to mind for trouble!) But not a fishhead! I am at work daydreaming about how I can get caught up on my water changes.
About moving that pair of lampeyes to their own tank that have been hanging around waiting for me to set them up for spawning. (yes, I have 2 species of Lampeye Vince). About setting up either my RO/DI or my steam distilling unit that I bought, and getting my Apisto. Bitieanetanea (I never can spell that) set up for breeding too.
About getting some marbles and java moss set up in a tank to get a tetra spawning going.
Fishheads are wierd.... haha!

Anyway, one of the things I am also considering is the layering of a tank. By layering I mean I have a 50 gal with nothing in it but L204s and a couple BNs. I have increased and improved the filtration in it, and am now thinking that I want to utilize the upper realms of the tank for some surface loving types of fish. Maybe some rainbows? Goodeids? hmm. ooh. Maybe a pair of Blue Gularis!

If you had the upper layer of a 50 gal tank just begging for some utilization, what would you put there?

yah. those Katangaes are going to be tight. Stupidly moved them out of the tank they were very happy in to make room for the black angels that were threatening to spawn. The female went south fast in the tank i put her in, and died last night.

I have 8 fry, 2 developing eggs. our BAP requires 10 fry surviving 60 days from spotting free swimming. have to wait for these eggs to hatch before i even start the BAP on them...... too funny.

So, the Katangae were the blue eyed ones. The maculatus are the red ones. I lost the blue ones. I am setting the red ones up for breeding tonight. Of course most likely some tragedy has befallen them today while I am at work....\

Edit: and by lost I mean lost the adult female. i still have hope for these 8 fry and 2 eggs. the fry are doing good. just short by a few. Worst case scenario I grow these up and spawn them, which I might do no matter what. I like them. Might just keep them in the top of the 50.

Schools of one or two species of blue-eyes (Pseudomugil spp). These fish are tiny but beautiful and have interesting behaviour. The males spend a lot of time displaying to each other, but they don't fight.
