Many people have been trying to breed 'freshwater' Nerites. Although they lay eggs, they require brackish conditions for hatchling survival. A very bright university student who definitly knows her snails, was having difficulties with some 'freshwater' Nerites who would not stay in the water. She started experimenting with salinity levels and they fared much better.
She finally spotted Nerite babies in July. I just noticed the post as I don't check the marine snail forum very often. Although its is arguably a success in breeding 'freshwater' Nerites, since they're sold as such we can learn more about their requirements, while it is still technically a marine topic.
