OMG I did it again!!! I totally didn't intent to buy any darn fish unless they were lyres. But of course, being the goof that I am (and feeling sorry for myself of course because hubby's gone for a month) I treated myself today. That's bad news number one. The good news is that I found the most beautiful all white, red eyed, orange finned female sword and I got her. The other bad news is that she's not a lyre *pout* she's a reg. But i'm thinking i'm going to cross her because she's just to gorgeous to pass up. I'm such a sap!!!:twitcy:

Wow, she sounds beautiful. Can you post a pic? As for being a good... no way! Be like me and diversify. (Of course, I keep running out of space...lol) If it were me, I'd try breeding her with a hifin white male platy if you could find one... maybe get some white red-eye hifin swords. Who knows? Actually, I'm still pretty clueless about genetics. There is so much to learn. Melody might have some suggestions. She's been my mentor when it comes to livebearers... what she doesn't know she'll find out (pose a question and she'll dig until she gets the answer!
Aside from that new fish are always fun... it's ok to indulge yourself! (I hereby give you permission... just don't tell hubby where to find me! :wideeyed: )

Hi Jay,
LOL thanks for the permission. Someone needed to validate my purchase for me! Why else would I post it. I'm soooo guilty. Two weeks ago I was back to 1 15gal tank. As of today I'm back up to 1 15gal, 2 10gals.. what's next!! LOL
I haven't posted it yet, but I think after all of my crying and whining that my ladies gravid spots are darkening. They are also becomming more dosile and withdrawn. I'm trying not to get excited in case i'm "looking to hard" and seeing something that's not there. I don't want to announce it yet, just in case. Maybe that lil guy took care of business afterall. God I would be sooo excited. If that's the case, I'm breeding the albino with my Partial Lyretail male sword. My god they would be beautiful fry!!! okay, now stop getting me excited....LOL

Take a DEEP breath! No hyperventilating... not good! I'm with you though. I so far only breed Platys and Mollies but get excited every time a female is pregnant!
In fact, last night one of my pregnant Red Wag female platys gave births (she was so big she could barely swim... she wobbled around the tank...lol). Now I keep searching the tank for the babies... can't wait to see who 'papa' was. Breeding livebearers is soooo much fun!

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t174/jordonsmum/100_4381.jpgI tried to download some photos from my computer but they were too big. As we speak (sort of) i'm in the middle of teaching myself how to navigate photobucket and figure out how to get the pics from there to here. I know fish, not computers...LOL I have them downloaded to photo bucket, just need to get them here now. Sorry, that was too big, still learning.
