I think I might be feeding my fish too much. How many times a day do you feed your livebearers. I was feeding crisps in the morning and froz brine shrimp OR froz blood worms at night. Is that too much? I'm not feeding a lot at a time and when they're done eating there's nothing left but they are HUGE fat.
Thanks

I feed my adult fish once or twice a day and my fry 2-3 times a day. For what others do in general see this thread (http://www.canadianaquariumconnection.com/forum/showthread.php?t=785).

I don't think you're feeding too much but it doesn't hurt to cut back a bit just in case. However, bloodworms can lead to constipation which is what I suspect is possibly why they are looking fat. That could be your stressor. My suggestion would be to feed them some peas tonight. I use frozen ones, thawed, peeled and quartered (or crumbled more finely for my fry). This will add roughage. I would suspend feeding the bloodworms temporarily and when you reintroduce, make itless frequently.

When you say you're feeding wafers, what type are you referring to?

Thanks for the info Jay,

I appreciate everything I can get. The worms thing makes a lot of sense, but I only started feeding them worms the day before yesterday. However, I have been feeding them brine shrimp for a week. Otherwise it's only been crisps instead of flakes. Apparently they're processed differently from flakes and retain more nutrients.?.

They've been fat pretty much since they matured, that's why I'm afraid of overfeeding them. I didn't notice so much until I put the new female (white) sword in my tank and she is sooo slim, that's when I noticed the difference.
