It just goes to show that you don't have to be rich to build your dream fish accomodations... you have to be a tad crazy, and patient, but not rich.
Frankly I can't imagine saving for a decade and then blowing it on this, but hey, to each his/her own....lol. Got hand it to him anyways!
Its a tad old so some of you may have seen it, but I hadn't, not being into Monster Fish.

Wow thats nuts. The tank in the first link is big but lacks any esthetics from what I can see in the pic. I dont think size equates to quality.
Couple of the ones from the second link manage to juggle it better. Guess its just not for me.

I would much rather have something built in around a family room or something where I could really enjoy it. I admire their determination and respect their ability to pull it off, but like you, its not for me.
Plus I'd always be worried that the thing would spring a leak :wideeyed: .

So would I. :Worried: It sure would be a fast way to flood your basement! Quite the undertaking, I must say.
I'd rather have lots of small tanks in a combo fish breeding room/rec room. Well actually, as I only have one room, I guess you could say that's what I have already.:twitcy:

I would like a fishroom for growing fish out and because it would be practical in regards to having one pump for filtration & all that, but otherwise, I like the fish around me. This would be obvious if you could see my house:laugh: . In fact, I have to keep one corner of my desk cleaned off so I can see the 90G across the room, the others are directly in front of, beside and there's a wall of tanks behind me. Its my room - computer & fish, AKA an open den.

Ya I like sitting in my living room listening to the sound of the water from the tank and splitting my attention from the tv and the fish. I find I almost watch the fish more. If I had 2 tanks here I think the fish would win.
Setting up that big basement dig would be kinda cool if my living room was there but then your bang on I'd be so scared of a leak. Especially living in Ont with the frost you can really shift a foundation. Back when I was just getting out of high school the new Harvey's building found that out the hard way. One spring morning all the windows were cracked because of a shift. :wideeyed:
I dont really even want a fish room like some of the guys here but thats cause im new and not breeder happy yet. If I was then that makes alot of sense to have. Give it time and that may change. :D

I suppose at that size it wouldn't be such a big deal - its small enclosures that are difficult to balance.

I saw that thread a long time ago and I was totally amazed, but I think the tank looked a bit bare. However, If you wanted to plant that tank, you'd have to dive down there and most of those fish would dig the plants back up anyway.
Great tank for the fish to live in, they are lucky they found someone who loves fish so much!

You can buy those giant silk plants - I think I'd do that. :D
