Ok sweety honey darlin', here are some pet names, as in actual names for your pet. They don't cover fish names (there's no accounting for taste!), but there is a listing of over 1200 pet names (http://www.petplace.com/dogs/top-1200-pet-names/page1.aspx), along with top names for cats (http://www.petplace.com/cats/top-names-for-cats/page1.aspx), top names for dogs (http://www.petplace.com/dogs/top-names-for-dogs/page1.aspx) and even how to name your cat (http://www.petplace.com/cats/naming-your-cat-a-difficult-matter/page1.aspx) or dog (http://www.petplace.com/dogs/what-s-in-a-name-naming-your-dog/page1.aspx).

As kids we just fought over names until Mom named it. :Dunno:

Mine was prenamed. Imagine my pleasure when out of a zillion cats at the SPCA, my Son chooses the half grown, skinny runt greyish tabby mongrel, and then look down at the tag so I can tell them which one I want in the office, and I have to wonder why they named her 'Trouble'.

But I can't complain - she was pretty much a wild alley cat, scared to death of people, but she's been a good cat overall. An only child's best friend and she loves him to pieces. Tolerates me....lol.

Don't feel bad. Cats are known for adopting one member of the family... the rest are relegated to the status of servant.;)

She tells on the kid - comes to me if he hasn't fed her or if he's standing there and doesn't know what she wants. I guess she thinks I'm the boss....lol. She's just like a kid though - If she doesn't go out on her own, she gets no treat when she comes back in. If the kid puts her out and I don't know if she gets a treat or not, I yell up the stairs to ask him and she meows up the stairs just as loudly, then can't stand it and runs up to make sure she gets that treat.

Rarely meows. She sits and stares at me if she wants something. If she gets impatient, she goes up on her hind legs and pats my arm with her paw.

I think she dislikes me because I'm 'mean' to her boy. Her ears lay completely flat when I lecture him - she hates it.

Some awesome names!

The kid names some of the fish and I must say he's good at it. As you've heard me refer to I'm sure, the Electric Yellow Cichlid is named 'Zap'. He dubbed the black Platies & Swords that are all black except for a white seam down their nose/back, 'Shmores'. The blue Betta with green highlights in her fins was christened 'Blueberry' because she had the berry & leaves look.

I call them fish, when I'm not catching them. When I'm catching them I call them all sorts of names. ;)

Funny, Maggie-May is what my daughter calls her babysitter!

I have 3 cats, Chevy, Libby (originally Sasha), and Tiny. We also have 2 bunnies, Otik and Tika. All the fish do not have names, except my daughter's betta. I am pretty sure she named him Prince, just like her last betta.

I looked on the list of names, I guess I really do vary from the norm, not one of my cats names was on there. Well, except Libby's original name Sasha. We got her as a stray, my neighbour was moving and was not planning on taking her cats. My husband had a cat years ago named Sasha and he just couldn't bring himself to call another cat by the same name as she was his all time favourite cat. Libby looks and acts just like a cat my aunt had named Libby so I couldn't help myself. I started calling her that and she seemed to agree that it suited her better so we all won .

I hadn't even thought of common names for pets beyond what I figured was the top few so its fun to read them, but I didn't see a whole lot of names that people I know use. Maybe we're just a more creative bunch.
